Volunteer Program: Speakers Bureau Education Mentoring Job Internships   Congratulations to Katy Pleak! Katy Pleak, a member of the AmeriCorps graduating class of 2000, came to MCC 2 years ago. Prior to that she had graduated from college, and had worked as a bi-lingual teacher in Costa Rica. Her passion for art and the environment drew her to being involved with the AmeriCorps Environmental Education Crew at MCC. As a member of the AmeriCorps team, Katy implemented environmental education and recycling programs in schools, mentored "at-risk" students, and completed over 1700 hours of community service. For her two years of AmeriCorps service, she also received an education award of more than $9500.00!! Her extensive leadership training that she received from MCC helped her to be hired recently as an education coordinator for native plant nurseries with the Golden Gate National Park Association. Her new responsibilities include close collaboration with the current class of AmeriCorps members at MCC as well as with old friends from the GGNRA!
