AmeriCorps
Educational Award Programs
The
Marin Conservation Corps, along with many local and state conservation
corps programs are in partnership with NASCC
(National Association of Service and Conservation Corps). Through
NASCC, Marin Conservation Corps is a member of "Youth Corps Serve"
-- a partnership with the Corporation for National Service that
is built on the premise that "every corpsmember in America
deserves the opportunity to earn an AmeriCorps
Educational Award".
The
AmeriCorps Education Awards Program is very similar to a regular
AmeriCorps
program. The participants are considered "AmeriCorps" members,
they have the same AmeriCorps goals, commitments, prohibited activities,
and responsibilities. The main difference is that Education Award
Program AmeriCorps members receive an hourly wage instead of a
stipend, and do not receive health insurance or housing.
